Around the world millions of children beg in the streets or work in the fields. Their families can not afford the simplest things such as school supplies or clothing. Schools are so ill-equipped that they do not have even the barest essentials such as school furniture or teaching aids for the teachers. Some villages do not even have a school for the children to attend. In many cases the families are too poor to feed their children. A child can not learn if he is hungry. Some children are abandoned and live in the streets.
Bless the Children's programs address these drastic needs and help impoverished children get an education. We establish and maintain operative schools by providing school desks and furniture. We provide children with school supplies, school uniforms, shoes, backpacks, scholarships and tools for learning. In some cases teacher training and salaries are provided.
We renovate schools and build schools when necessary. In some schools we build kitchens and areas for the children to eat. We provide nutritional food. A school lunch program will double the number of children attending school and receiving an education.
Bless the Children establishes and maintains libraries for children to have access to books to read, to have a place to study, to do research and to learn about computers.
$1 a day provides a child food and education.
