Every day, almost 16,000 children die from hunger-related causes - one child every five seconds.  Throughout the world 90 million children are severely food deprived. In a world with enough food for everyone we work hard to bring nourishment to those most vulnerable - children.

In our commitment to provide education we have found it is not uncommon for children to go days without nourishment.  These children have lower learning rates, dispersed attention and high emotions. 

Since a child can not survive through to a productive adult life or become educated if he does not receive the nourishment he needs Bless the Children builds kitchens in schools and establishesfeeding programsto address the needs. Fortunately we have found that poor communities, while poor in material wealth, are rich in enthusiasm and willingness to work hard to help their children.

In overcoming this barrier to learning we have found much success and while creating model schools have enjoyed the added result of communities sprung to new life and hope in their partnership with Bless the Children to bring education to their children.

In addition we have doubled school attendance rates and established a high school.  As well, we have begun kindergartens to teach the youngest of the community.

 
   
We have also worked with the United States Agency for International Development to provide food security to children and their communities.
